Pastoral Care at Alma

Introduction
Caring for one another has been a notable feature of church life in Alma for some time. The relaxed, warm welcome given is appreciated by those who visit.

Pastoral Care is first and foremost an attitude of care for each other which is the responsibility of every church member. In Alma, homegroups are the primary means through which members can provide mutual support.

Pastoral Care in Alma includes:

Home groups
Home groups encourage care and mutual support for Alma members. Being part of a home group and getting to know other church members helps extend care in the church. If you wish to be linked to a home group even if you are unable to attend regularly please contact the church office.

Welcoming New People
We hope that new people attending Alma will enjoy a warm and friendly welcome each Sunday. If you are new to the church please assist us in getting to know you by completing the info slip in the Alma Diary and introduce yourself to someone. Periodically the church also runs new members meals.

One to one support or mentoring
If you would like to meet on a regular or semi-regular basis with a church member for listening and support this can be arranged. If you wish to have a mentoring / peer accountability friendship with another person in Alma we can help set this up for you. For either of the above contact any member of the pastoral care group.

Pastoral Care Group (PCG)
The PCG co-ordinate care in the church and provide additional support to the home group system.

  • You can contact any member of the group if you require support or wish to talk through any issues
  • If you wish ongoing support this can be discussed and arranged.
  • If your circumstances require expertise beyond the skills of the group they can assist in finding the support you need.
  • The group has access to others in the church who are willing to assist through providing practical help, prayer support, hospital visitation and listening.

Contact: Andrew Green, Pauline Herbert, Dan Jones, Vicki Elliott, Maureen Campbell, Stuart Leitch or Nick Harrison.

Prayer and Prayer Ministry
After each church service there are people available to pray with you. We also have a prayer chain ministry for urgent prayer needs. If you wish an issue to be circulated for prayer please contact Miss Jos Lamb.

Marriage Preparation
There are three couples in the church family who have experience in leading marriage preparation sessions and are willing to meet with those considering marriage. For further information contact the pastoral care group.
