Recent dates and events:

  • 1999 Togo and Benin pass legislation on trafficking children
  • 2000 Mali and Cote d'Ivoire sign child trafficking treaty
  • 2001 An Etireno ship carries child slaves from Benin, Mali and Togo to work in Gabon catching press attention

People trafficking and bonded labour - it is still taking place. See Anti-slavery International, Emmaus against human trafficking or Stop the traffic (Justice for Children International) for more information.
